Cool for cats

There was another member of the cat gang but he got sent off a little earlier, with another piece.
These are the surprises I sent last week.A motley assortment of Christmas cats, each with their own names and personalities. As each was made I thought it my absolute favourite, till I started the next one.It allowed my to feed my cat habit, each one was loosely based on a real cat breed, pored over in my giant cat book from the library.I often wonder what kind of profile they could build of me, if my library book choice was analysed.
Ollie, the cat on the end must be a kitten as he has that wide eyed, startled gaze, like something wonderful has just appeared before him.
Percy was one of the few that managed a clear tree shot. They did look lovely all hanging as a group but unsurprisingly misbehaved slightly so he is the only one I can use.

I'm so happy that the recipients all liked them as I loved making them.
On the knitting front my dear husband threw a spanner in my Kaffe quest. He simply asked I knit him a pair of fingerless gloves, leading me to cast down my multi coloured (not yet a square) and rush of to the wool shop.
I bought the nicest wool I could in his very narrow colour choice and cast on as soon as I got home.
The first one was too tight, so that got undone and I cast on again.Second attempt, still a little tight.Third attempt, all seemed well and I picked up stitches at the thumb eagerly, ready for the triumphant trying on.
But no.The thumb is a little snug so my next job is to undo that. These have turned into Saville Row esque, bespoke gloves.
And still I long to return to Kaffe.Beware interest shown. If I don't deliver that means I don't care so I shall unpick each little stitch with love.
Of course.

and they're off

How satisfying it is to see something through, no matter how small.
I had such fun making these little gifts, these are the surprise I hinted at earlier.
I hope they arrive quickly as I can't show any pics until they do.
On a different note, after dithering for many nights trying to gain any family member's opinion on which Kaffe Fassett pattern I should try first I have plunged in.
I couldn't decide initially between one all over pattern or a many squared affair.
Well, something I could chop and change or something which would require dedication and effort?
So I've started a lovely square of little, multicoloured squares. You know when you quickly realise that something has tricked you into thinking it is easy.Multi coloured knitting is my new learning curve.
To be fair, I'm doing alright, but this is a pattern from the beginning of the book.Goodness knows if I'll make enough squares to make anything.Kaffe makes everything sound so breezy and possible.
Well, it's the weekend tomorrow, so perhaps everything is.
